Quiet roads to the Shannon

The Shannon offers plenty of possibilities for shore angling. Labasheeda has a new pier with a fine picnic area and boat mooring installations. Guests can join the Kildysart Angling Club to get the best insights on where and what to fish in the local waters with its variety of lakes, river and small streams.
Ennis
Ennis has picturesque streets with colourful shop fronts, the well preserved cloister ruins of Ennis Friary and Clare Abbey, the Glor Irish Music centre and the Clare Museum - all well worth a visit. A variety of traditional pubs provide traditional and contemporary evening entertainment. Ennis is also the gateway to East and South Clare with Bunratty castle and Folk park, Cragganowen Stone Age project and the Lough Derg area with more leisure options.
Kilrush
The sights of West Clare, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, the Loop Head peninsula, the Atlantic beaches as well as the market town of Kilrush are all in easy reach. Kilrush offers a fine marina, starting point for dolphin watching tours and the boats to historic Scattery Island. The Killimer Shannon Car Ferry is just 20 minutes away, making it easy to explore the neighbouring counties of Limerick and Kerry.
Loop Head
Sightseeing
The Cliff scenery on Loop Head Peninsula is one of Ireland's greatest natural attractions. The Loop Head Drive will take you to numerous scenic outlooks as well as to cliff angling spots. A variety of rare birds, dolphins, whales and seals appear regularly on and around Loop Head. The famous Cliffs of Moher are only 45 mins away; a little bit further to the North is Doolin (where boats are leaving to the Aran Islands) and the unique limestone area of the Burren, a heaven for walkers, climbers and botanists.
